Imam Khamenei’s youthhood was full of ups and downs and coincided with the heart of the important events of the Islamic Revolution. His youthhood was such that he himself said, “My youthhood was in some ways a very exciting and adventurous youthhood.” In the following selection of excerpts, we look at some of Imam Khamenei’s pastimes in his youth.

In describing Imam Khamenei’s revolutionary activities against the Shah’s oppressive regime, the role of his honorable wife has not received due attention.Khamenei.ir is publishing seven historic chapters about the role of Mrs. Mansureh Khojasteh Baqirzadeh in the revolutionary activities of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution. The books “The Drop of Blood that Became a Ruby” and “A Description of Names” have been used as references.

August 22nd coincides with the anniversary of the assassination of Sayyid Assadollah Lajevardi, a revolutionary activist, former Prosecutor General for the Islamic Revolution and former head of the Prisons Organization. He was martyred at his workplace in the Tehran Bazaar by members of the Mujahedin Khalq (MKO) terrorist organization in 1998. The following are Imam Khamenei's statements about this assassination:
