Martyr Imam Khamenei's selected statements on the Decline of the US

In the new world order, the United States will be isolated, contrary to what George Bush Sr. said ten, twenty years ago about America being the only dominant power in the world. After Iraq attacked Kuwait and the Americans crushed the Iraqi attack, he [George Bush Sr.] arrogantly said something along the lines of that today, the US is the be-all-and-end-all of the world.  America will no longer have an important place in this new order that I am talking about, it is isolated. (Nov 2, 2022) The US is on the path to becoming weaker, not on a path to becoming stronger. This is a reality. It’s on the path to becoming weaker economically and also politically both in terms of its global standing and in terms of its internal politics. It’s also becoming weaker in terms of internal social issues. All these factors are contributing to the US’s decline. The US no longer possesses the power it had 30 or 20 years ago, nor will it ever have such power again. And it won’t be able to have that [same power]. (Mar 12, 2025) The US’s interference in various parts of the world is one of the factors that’s causing it to become more isolated in the world day by day. While the leaders of some countries may flatter it, the US is becoming more detested by nations with each passing day. Wherever it’s interfered, the result has been warmongering, genocide, destruction, and displacement. These are the results of US involvement. (Nov 27, 2025) The US is becoming weak. The West’s Arrogant Powers are becoming weak. This isn’t empty rhetoric. It’s a reality. It’s something that they’re saying themselves. They themselves say that the indicators of the power of the US in the world are in a state of decline. What indicators? An example is their economy. One of the most important indicators of US power used to be the strong US economy, which they say is in decline. It has been defeated in the war in Afghanistan, defeated in its maximum pressure policy against the Islamic Republic of Iran, defeated in the face of Asian powers, defeated in trying to control the economy of the world, and defeated in the internal management of its own country and managing the phenomenon of the deep rift that has come about in the U.S. establishment. Various political and social incidents in Europe and in the United States have laid bare the weaknesses and the deep structural, managerial and moral conflicts among westerners. The electoral events in the US and the notoriously scandalous failures of the hubristic and arrogant managers in that country, the unsuccessful one-year fight against the pandemic in the US and Europe and the embarrassing incidents that ensued, and also the recent political and social instabilities in the most important European countries are all signs of the downward movement of the western camp. (May 7, 2021) Today, they [American values] are being ridiculed by the whole world. Even their friends ridicule them. And such is their economy. The US economy is crippled in the true sense of the word: there are tens of millions of unemployed, hungry and homeless individuals. Such is the condition of the US in the present time. This is of course an important point, but a more surprising point is that some people still point to the US as their qibla. They continue to pin their hopes and dreams on the US: a US which is in such a condition. What I am saying here is not merely an analysis, rather this is being acknowledged by themselves. This is being said by their spokespeople, writers and thinkers inside the US. It is they who are saying this. They have written several books, published with a large circulation, bringing certain truths to light. I have read one of these books translated in Farsi. The book is filled with the proofs of this decline. If someone really reads the book, they see that from start to finish, the book speaks of the political decline of the US with the moves made by the current US President. Such an empire will not last long like this. It is evident that when one political system and regime reaches this point, it will not last long and it will be annihilated. Of course, if some of them hold office, they will destroy it sooner than the others and there are some who make it last a little while longer should they hold office, but in any case, this is the truth of the matter. (Nov 3, 2020) Those who are our enemies and stand against us openly acknowledge that they are in decline. Yet even so, they refuse to abandon their arrogant, domineering nature. Their threats, their moves and their malevolence have been defeated today. And they will be defeated from now on too. Sanctions will fail and so will their policies, thanks to resistance. The resources of the country would be transferred here and there according to their wishes. The economic, social, and cultural policies of the country would be formulated the way they wanted. However, their hands were cut off from this means of controlling Iran. What cut off their hands? It was the power of Islam that did so; it was the Islamic Revolution that severed their hands from our country: that is why they are enemies. (Oct 4, 2018)
